What are Porcelain Laminates?
One way that we can make your smile more attractive is through the placement of porcelain laminate veneers or jacket crowns. Porcelain veneers are translucent, thin laminates made to enhance the esthetics (shape, spacing, color) of natural teeth, to correct crowding, or to replace composite bonding.
If you already have crowns on your front teeth, replacement with all porcelain jacket crowns may provide you with a more natural, attractive appearance. It can be used to design smiles, as an alternative to orthodontic therapy in a special case.
Porcelain veneers and crowns are extremely lifelike and hold their brilliance, unlike bonding which oftentimes appears bulky or fake. Although porcelain is a highly translucent material, it is also extremely sturdy. Porcelain veneers and crowns are long-lasting dental treatments. There are also no food restrictions; once cemented, you can eat normally; porcelain only conceals the flaws.
How are Porcelain Laminates made?
Porcelain jacket crowns and laminate veneers both require two visits. In the first sitting, the old bondings are removed and the tooth is prepped. Here, we also take impressions and choose the shade and shape of the porcelain. When you leave the clinic, temporary bonding is used to cover the prepared teeth. Approximately a week later, the porcelain veneers or crowns are permanently cemented.

Types of Tooth Whitening
External Tooth Whitening
Tooth Whitening is done from outside the tooth, In this technique. External Tooth Whitening includes,
1) Office bleach
In office bleach, a dentist applies the tooth whitening solution on teeth. Then focuses LED light on the teeth. Further sitting can be planned, depending upon the stains the tooth has. This is the most reliable and most preferred way of tooth whitening.
2) Home bleach
In home bleach technique a special tray is made and the patient has to wear the tray according to the instruction as given by the dentist. The patient needs to apply the bleaching agent in the tray and wear it. Lighter stains can be effectively removed by this method, but in case of heavier stains, this method is less impactful.
Internal Tooth Whitening
Internal Tooth Whitening procedures are performed on nonvital tooth that have undergone endodontic therapy (“Root Canal”) and are discoloured due to internal staining of the tooth structure by blood and other fluids that drained in. Internal Tooth Whitening brightens teeth from the inside out. Whitening the tooth internally involves Root canal treatment, and placing a peroxide gel into the pulp chamber so that the gel can work straight inside the tooth on the dentin layer. In this variation of whitening the peroxide is sealed within the tooth over a period of some days and replaced as and when needed. This technique of Tooth Whitening is also known as “Walking Bleach Technique”.
Post Operative sequences
- Hyper sensitive teeth: Tooth Whitening dehydrates the tooth leading to hypersensitivity.
- If proper care is not taken it may lead to chemical burn out of gums and mucous membrane of oral cavity.
- Over Tooth Whitening may lead loss of enamel structure.
- Aggressive Tooth Whitening procedure may cause inflammation of the pulp leading to severe dental pain.
How Tooth Whitening is done?
In-office Tooth Whitening systems a gel made with a 35% solution of hydrogen peroxide is used. The hydrogen peroxide gel is much stronger than the carbamide peroxide solutions used in take-home systems. It must be applied by the dentist only, if not done properly it can cause potential harm to other oral tissues surrounding the teeth. These strong hydrogen peroxide solutions offer very efficient tooth whitening in about two hours on their own, however, most dentists speed up the process by using a heat or light source to liberate more oxygen from the gel faster than would happen without the light or heat source.
When is Tooth Whitening indicated?
Tooth Whitening is primarily preferred to improve a smile, to make teeth bright and to remove the stains from the tooth. The indications for tooth whitening include
- Stains of bacterial pigments on the tooth.
- Stains of pan-masala, tobacco, betel nut on the tooth.

Book your appointment today to feel the magic of a beautiful smile and stand out from the crowd. Here is some brief explanation of the cosmetic treatments we offer.
Enamel Shaping / Contouring
In this procedure, we trim(contour) minor irregularities in the tooth to give the tooth a good shape. It is also known as enameloplasty.
Dental reshaping / Contouring
Here shaping of the major irregularities of the tooth, like crooked teeth, chipped teeth, cracked teeth or even overlapped teeth is undertaken in just one session. In certain cases, it may even substitute orthodontic (braces ) treatment. It is commonly used to alter the shape, length or position of the teeth.
Bonding
Herein we apply enamel-like dental composite material on tooth structure. It is then sculpted in to shape, hardened with special UV light & finally finishing & polishing is carried on.
Veneers
These are ultra-thin, custom made porcelain laminates bonded directly to the teeth. These are an alternative that can be considered for closing gaps or disguising discoloured teeth that do not react to whitening procedures.
Gum lift
This is the most appropriate treatment, for those who have a gummy smile. Here we raise & sculpt the gum line. Here reshaping of the tissue and/or underlying bone is carried on to create the appearance of longer & more symmetrical teeth.
Bite reclamation
This treatment is for persons who have a closed or shorter look of the face due to excessive wear of teeth. Here we open the bite by temporary bridges & reclaim vertical dimension of the face. Due to this treatment wrinkles on the face disappears & gives a more youthful appearance.
