DENTURES

Dentures are a set of artificial removable teeth which replaces the missing teeth which can be either single, multiple or full.

1) Removable Dentures

What are Dentures?

Dentures are a set of removable prosthetic teeth designed to completely replace missing teeth. It can be upper jaw denture & lower jaw denture.

What are implant supported Dentures?

Maxillary denture is usually relatively straightforward & has a whole palate for support so that it remains stable without slippage. A lower full denture, on the other hand, has continually moving tongue which destabilizes it so it should or must be supported by 2-4 implants placed in the lower jaw for support. In comparison, a bottom denture with anywhere from two to four implants supporting it is a significantly better product than one without.

  • Phonetics : Patients can communicate more fluently after having several of their missing teeth, particularly the front ones, replaced.
  • Self-Esteem : Patients feel good about themselves & their self confidence improves a lot. Removable dentures are much cheaper in comparison to fixed bridges & implants.

What are the disadvantages of Denture?

  • They need to be removed for cleaning after every meal.
  • They tend to loosen over a period of time.
  • Denture pain, often known as ulcers, can occasionally be resolved by cutting the denture.
  • Some may have gagging (vomit) sensation with dentures.
  • All acrylic dentures are breakable.

2) Fixed Dentures

Another alternative is a fixed denture that is backed by and attached to implants. It enables you to wear either your whole or partial dentures, regardless of having to worry about them slipping or falling out.
